If you’ve been busy researching journal spreads online and wonder how it’s possible to create beautiful journal spreads AND still have time to live your life, stencils may well be the secret tool you’ve been looking for. But with so many designs, how do you know where to start?
Choose your designs carefully:
There is a huge world of stencils out there, with bumper packs of super thin mylar stencils available for just a few pounds from the budget retailers (like one we won’t mention that rhymes with Femu). The downsize to these poor quality designs is that they are produced in bulk with no real consideration for how we like to use our journals, they don’t line up with your 5mm dot-grid and the material is super flimsy.
Instead of getting 100 designs you likely won’t use, choose wisely and purchase a design that you’ll reach for time and again. A much better use of your hard earned money!

10. Apricots – Upper and Lower Case Font Stencils (F28 / F29)
Fancy adding brush lettering to your journal, but can’t get the hang of it? Lettering stencils might be for you. Apricots is our brush lettering style font, and our top selling font stencil of all time!
The best thing about our Font stencils is that they include a row of holes at the bottom which make up the middle of the letters.
TOP TIP: Overlap each letter so you get the full cursive brush lettering effect!

9. Week on a Page – Super Easy Stencil (SE20)
Week on a Page is one of our Super Easy Stencil designs, meaning that it is designed to be laid on the page and traced in full, for a super easy journal layout.
The design is available in both A5 and B5 sizing, depending on your preferred journal size.
TOP TIP: Use this design as part of a double page weekly spread, with extra room for notes/task lists.

8. Vertical Week – Pocket Stencil (P15)
Another popular layout for a weekly spread, the vertical week uses vertical boxes, spread across two pages, to create a space for each day.
The pocket stencil is just 9.5 x 13cm in size, perfect for popping in your journal pocket for journaling on the go!

7. MVP – Classic Stencil (C040)
There are so many ways you can use the elements of this stencil, which is why we named it our MVP!
From simple daily spreads, to weekly spreads and meal plans. One stencil can be used multiple ways.

6. Quadrant Maker – Classic Stencil (C048)
Use this simple layout as a monthly dashboard, or a weekly spread across two pages.
TOP TIP: Although this stencil is sized for an A5 journal, you can easily tweak to larger journal sizes by tracing in pencil and extending the lines out to the edge of the page.

5. Monthly Boxes – Super Easy Stencil (SE21)
As we enter the top half of our top ten, we reach one of our most often used designs… Every month we reach for this handy stencil to create our monthly calendar layout!
This Super Easy design is available in both A5 and B5 sizing.
TOP TIP: The boxes are repeated across two pages to create the monthly spread. Don’t forget to make a mental note of the layout of the month you are creating to avoid adding boxes where not needed.

4. Hexagon – Classic Stencil (C030)
Hexagons are such a fun shape for spring/summer spreads but have you ever tried drawing them freehand? Trust us, it’s harder than it looks!
The Hexagon classic stencil has a range of different sized hexagons, group together for a fun weekly spread, throw in some florals and bees for a full on honeycomb effect.

3. Bookshelf – Super Easy Stencil (SE26)
The bookshelf stencil makes a fab reading tracker. Colour in books to represent pages, chapters or books you’ve read.

TOP TIP: You can also use this handy design to create a monthly habit or mood tracker, as it contains 31 books!

2. Cheri Monthly Headers – Pocket Stencils (P17)
As our font stencils were so popular, we created a range of pocket stencils that can be used for commonly used journal headers.
For a quick monthly header, lay on the page and trace the whole word, adding the middles of the letters which are found underneath.
FUN FACT: Our ‘Cheri’ font monthly headers, uses the font from the Oops a Daisy logo!

1. Circle Monthly – Classic Stencil (C014)
We have finally reached our number 1 stencil, the ultimate bestseller of all time… The Classic Circle Monthly.
Originally created back in 2016, it was one of the very first Oops a Daisy designs, and is still going strong!
